The Commodore 64 classic, Impossible Mission, is heading to the Wii, but in which format? Early indications appeared to show the game coming out on the Wii in the standard way; a game disc, but Infendo are reporting that it might not be the case.

They appear to have found something in the June edition of Nintendo Power which suggests that the remade retro game will be released via the Wii Shopping Channel, making it the first non-Virtual Console game to be released that way.

However, the publisher (System 3) also plan to release the game in disc format and the Nintendo DS, resulting in some serious confusion and speculations across the intertubes.

Overall, 3 possible ideas have been suggested, which are:

1. The same game is coming out for both the Wii and DS.
2. The DS game will be downloadable on the Wii, and will release concurrently with a separate Wii version.
3. The DS and Wii remakes will be separate and accompanied by a Virtual Console release of the C64 original.

Any of these suggestions are possible, but I guess we’ll have to wait a little bit longer before we know which is correct!
