Nintendo DS Drives US Market Into The Billions

During March, the Nintendo DS helped drive the US market to a value of $1.1 Billion with its massive sales over this period.

NPD has reported sales of 508,000 DS units which is more than the Micrsoft Xbox 360 (199,000 units) and the Sony PlayStation 2 (280,000 units) put together.

The Sony PSP and PlayStation 3 also suffered from poor sales with just 180,000 PSP units sold and, the lowest of all next generation consoles, 130,000 PlayStation3 units.

The Nintendo Wii, despite its mass shortage of consoles, managed to rack up a good 259,000 sales.

So are Nintendo on track to winning the next generation war, even though they were never considered a contender?
