Two days ago, Sega has announced during a press release that Sonic Rush Adventure is in development for the Nintendo DS handheld. This sequel to the critically-acclaimed Rush will take players through a new high sea adventure involving pirates, treasure and new characters.

Rush Adventure will utilize the dual screens and will deliver the same action-packed 2D gameplay we know and love. You’ll uncover valuable materials, take control of new vehicles (courtesy of you sidekick Tails) and battle against epic bosses that tower Sonic through both DS screens. And you’ll eventually meet up with the main antagonist, Captain Whisker.

Sonic Rush Adventure will be avaliable in retail stores in fall 2007. Stay tune for more on this zanny hedgehog.
