Top 10 Games we want to see on the Wii
With so many console options nowadays there are always going to be games on one console that you want to see on another. Thankfully with the power of our minds we are able to visualise how these games would be, and how they would be better. Not only are there games already in existence, but there are games that have never even been a twinkle in a games designer’s eye. Yet again, with the sheer power of our imaginations, we can create games from thin air and imagine how they would run on our very own Nintendo Wii. (I like to think the plural of Wii is Wii)
So here it is the top 10 games we would like to come to our Wii.
10. LocoRoco
If you have not played LocoRoco then you have something seriously wrong with you and you need to seek therapy…or you could just play it, either way is good. However this game is designed perfectly for the Wii remote. Using the tilt sensor you would tilt the world to guide your little fat blob around to collect all of your odd looking fruits to make yourself even fatter. This game has all the charm of a crazy Japanese normality yet appeals to all. We say bring it to the Wii so all us Nintendo fans can whistle along to the strangely addictive theme tune whilst avoiding the Rastafarian medusas with our crazy tilt motion!
9. Katamari Damacy Online
There are only two words to describe Katamari Damacy, Crazy and Japanese! It is extremely hard to explain to people what Katamari Damacy is without making it sound like the most boring game in the world but trust us, it isn’t! Rolling a ball around a world using the tilt in the Wii controller isn’t exactly anything new for the Wii, however when your ball is ‘sticky’ and picks anything up, and we mean it when we say anything, then things begin to get a lot more interesting. The crazy fun Japanese style of Katamari is perfect for the Nintendo Wii and adding online features such as multiplayer and scoreboards would add excellent possibilities for the Katamari series.
8. Handy-Andy Game (DIY Game)
If you’re not sure who Handy-Andy is then here is a quick description. He is a handyman on a makeover TV program. Now this may not sound like a lead character for a game, nor does a game based around chores which most people would avoid sound like a good game premise. However, mix these two games together in your mind and see what you come up with…The Sims and Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. Making a game with the ability to spruce up your own house but making you go through the motions such as sawing, hammering, or even painting could result in some manic fun.
7. Samba De Amigo 2
There have been Dance Mats, Guitars, Light Guns, Steering Wheels and Fishing Rod peripherals to add extra excitement to your gaming experience. However the most peculiar peripheral has got to be the Samba Di Amigo Maracas. Shaking them in time with music whilst a crazed Mexican monkey dances on the screen doesn’t exactly sound like a good game, but it is. The game was oddly addictive creating extroverted fun for anyone that played along. Bringing this game to the Wii could take full advantage of the Wii and Nunchuck combo to make shaking your arms and hips along to music a reason to turn on your console.
6. Time Crisis / House of the Dead Series
Both of these series have been extremely popular arcade titles which have invaded the home console systems. However to use these games on a home console you needed an awkward looking gun accessory which more often than not needed complicated wire setups just to get them to work. The beauty of bringing these games to the Wii is that the controller is built for light gun action out of the box. No need for wires, no need for extra accessories (unless you want a gun attachment) just good shoot-em-up fun for all the family.
5. Pub Sports
42 All Time Classics on the DS has already given Nintendo gamers a taste of compendium games. Having games like darts, dominoes and a range of card games made 42 a brilliant pick up and play game. This could also be the same for the Wii. Wii sports has already shown how bowling works and this could be added to a wide range of ‘Pub Sports’ like Darts, Pool, Snooker, Billiards and more. Quick fun for all.
4. Drum Hero
If you don’t know what Guitar Hero is then where have you been the past year or so? RedOctane recently announced that Guitar Hero will be heading to the Nintendo Wii but what they have overlooked is the guy that keeps the rhythm in the background; The drummer. Using the Wii controller in combination with the Nunchuck you have the perfect tools to ‘Air Drum’ your way to fame. Using a similar style of rhythm action game as Guitar Hero you have the perfect game for all wannabe drummers out there. If RedOctane does not snap this up then someone else should definitely do so.
3. Track & Field / Winter Sports
With the announcement of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games it kind of makes this choice redundant. However with only the game being announced and not much detail put forwards it is unclear what events will be in the game. Here are our suggestions for an Olympic game, and also a winter equivalent.
100m Dash – Run on the spot as fast as you can with the Wii controller in your hand.
110m Hurdles – Same as 100m dash but you have to jump/press a button at the right time.
Javelin – “Throw†the Wii controller at the right angle with a smooth motion to throw right.
Shot Put – Place controller on shoulder and throw with a smooth but fast motion to throw right.
Curling – Push the stone then sweep with the Wii controller to get the right position.
Skiing Biathlon – Ski with the Wii remote in your hand then shoot at the screen at the shooting parts.
And there are so much more. To see this game take form would be great for all the family, you could even have online scoreboards to keep track of all the world records.
2. A ‘Real’ Pokémon Game
Now I know a lot of you will be thinking. “What do you mean a real Pokémon game? What do you think Pokémon Battle Revolution is going to be?†Well my answer is it is not a real Pokémon game. Yes you can battle your monsters with each other but what you can’t do is walk around a real-time environment catching Pokémon by battling them and throwing Pokéballs at them. This is what a real Pokémon game should be; a large free roaming environment with wild Pokémon scattering the world where you have to battle the monsters and using the Wii controller throw your Pokéballs at just the right time. This is a simple idea yet I bet you are all nodding with agreement that this should be done. I won’t even begin on suggesting that an MMORPG is also an option…think about it.
1. Star Wars Lightsaber Game
Last but not least, this is what the Wii was designed for! If Lucas Arts don’t make a game where the Lightsaber is the main feature then they have all gone crazy! Everyone loves Star Wars and the reason everyone loves it is not because of the epic storyline, or the Princess Leia fantasies. Everyone loves Star Wars because of the Lightsabers! Being able to walk around in a first person environment waving a light sword about would be possibly the best game of all time, and using the Wii controller would be a match made in an intergalactic heaven. If you don’t agree, then you’re either mentally deranged or some form of mutant-alien thing! So, if you are reading Mr. Lucas then you know what to do. Bring it to the Wii!
So there you have it, our top 10 games we’d like to see on the Wii. Hopefully there are plagiaristic developers browsing this site as we speak and hopefully we will see these games soon. If you feel we have overlooked a game that you feel is necessary to point out then head over to our forums to discuss.

I think all Pokemon games are justified to be….real Pokemon games.
Just following the ol’ portable formula and such…that would be cool.
