Review
The Shredder is up to no good, so Raph, Don, Mike and Leo must step up and shred some shell.
Backgrounds are very nicely done. The rest of the graphics range from good to poor. It loses much, as many sprites appear faded, and many times get rendered poorly.
Music is good, however, you don’t even here the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme at the title screen, which is a big loss for the game, however the music is pretty good in it’s own right and you do hear a bit of the theme if you manage to complete a level.
Konami was really going out on controls with this one, such as super high space jumps, and changing direction mid-air. However, this made certain jumps quite difficult to perform. The ability to change turtles at any time was pretty nice, but they essentially play the same.
Like many NES games, this was hard. You only get one life per turtle, and 2 continues, should all your turtles get captured. Their health doesn’t recover between levels. So should you lose nearly all your health getting through the second level, which is highly probable, don’t expect to get healed at the start of the next level. While not great, if you really love the TMNT, then add this to your VC collection
