WiiDS.co.uk Staff Roundtable #2

Welcome to the second of our regular feature; the WiiDS.co.uk Staff Roundtable!

The way this feature works is this: a question asked to each of the staff members, and they each write their own opinions in reply. The outcome can be quite random at times, but is definatly worth a read!

In this episode, we ask our staff: “What is your most anticipated Wii game of 2007?”.

No More Heroes

I’ve been a huge fan of Killer 7 and I’m longing for Suda 51’s next big project: No More Heroes. Originally called Heroes, you take the role of Travis Touchdown, a no-name protagonist ready to kill anyone who gets in his way. Who doesn’t want to roam freely around a large city liquidating dangerous hitmen? As of this moment, information about the game is scarce, but that’s because No More Heroes is only 30% finished. From the screenshots we’ve seen so far, I can assure this title will look and feel great. I’ll have a killer of a time.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Like I really have to explain this one. Oh alright, I will. The previous games kicked major ass, especially multiplayer, and this one has ONLINE PLAY. That’s an instant purchase right there. With the inclusion of more characters, better graphics, destructible environments, new challenges and more, it’s going to be great. Hell, it could feature downloadable content and an online highscore system. That would be tops. In short, I’m getting this game because it will be a smash.

Super Mario Galaxy

Well, when I first saw the video, I was sold. This was going to be one of those “redefine the standard” Mario games. Who would of thought that there would be more than just 3D games, well Nintendo did. This game features play on many different planetoids instead of of the traditional 3D levels that Mario 64 and Sunshine gave. It’s definitely going to be one of the games I’ll be getting.

Nintendogs [Wii] (I so want to call it Wiidogs!)

At E3 2006 Nintendo EAD’s general manager, Takahashi Tezuka spoke about the possibility about bringing Nintendogs to the Wii:

IGN Wii: Will you bring Nintendogs to Wii?

Tezuka: It’s definitely a property that we’re looking at because it was so well received and it did so well for us. There are definitely conversations about where we can take it next. Nothing specific yet, but it’s definitely something that’s in our minds.

Both my daughter and myself have spent many a happy hour playing Nintendogs DS so the thought of it coming to the Wii really brings a smile to my face. The possibilities are endless with interaction with your pet being the most exciting. Everything from throwing a frisbee to showering your pet could be achieved in such a realistic way and with online capabilities, walking your dog with friends could be easily done from your living room!

Disaster: Day of Crisis

This definetly has to be my most anticipated title of the year. Why? Nintendo is trying to appeal to a whole new audience and I know a whole bunch of people who like end-of-the-world type of things. Not only that, but the graphics, as far as I have seen, are amazing. The gameplay looks very good, but the enviorment is amazing. Volcanic explosions, tsunamis, meteor showers, it’s incredible! I’m hoping for online in this game, although since we haven’t seen much since E3 I don’t really know how it would work. Hope this game comes out soon, the wait is killing me!
