Medusa has captured Palutena, and now it is up to Pit to rescue her from Medusa.
With Pit on his way to Brawl, it would be apparent that the Big N wouldn’t forget his game of origin, Kid Icarus, which they lovingly brought to us on the Wii Virtual Console.
The game was simple, graphically, the sprites were effective, and Pit was easily discernable from other things on the screen. The background was black, and probably could have done well with some star fields or something to make it look a little more pleasant, but then again, it gets a little touchy when there are several enemies on screen at one time. In the end, they are playable, and quite effective, while simply not being asthetically pleasing.
I was pleased by the music, simple and a bit catchy, because I got a bit caught in my head. It works, even where parts of the game when the music suddenly changes, without so much as a note out of place. The rest was not so pleasing, a lot of the sound effects were a bit grating, luckily, the arrow sound is not one of those, so it becomes something to overlook. Though, I did die quite a few times, and I can surely say that Pit’s death squeak is annoying as can be.
Kid Icarus is suprisingly simple, while being just as suprisingly difficult. I had trouble getting through this game, and it took much patience and many retries. The premise is, Pit can move, jump and fire arrows to destroy enemies, enemies can deal some damage to our hero, as well as there is no scrolling down, so if you fall off, you’re dead. Do not fret, as there are a variety of items that Pit can obtain to even the odds, such as sacred water to restore his health, and feathers, which will let him fly for a short period, should he miss a jump and start plummeting.
After a while, the game kind of reels one in, everyone will enjoy this game, and for only 500 points, everyone could get it easily enough.
