Is Wii60 The Way to Go?

Okay…I was lurking my way through my usual Nintendo-based forums, doing my usual business. In a Wii forum, I come across a myraid of arguments about how unsatisfied people are with the Nintendo system. Members on both sides of the argument muster up reasons the Wii can’t live up to some of the features of the Xbox 360. Some even tempted to sell his/hers back to EB Games or Gamestop. I realize that I had a voice in this…and I (along with some others) mention one thing: Why not buy a Xbox 360 and a Wii? That way you guys can stop repeating yourselves verbatim with the same topic.

I was just wondering for a second…and I glance back at my Wii….and my Xbox 360. And I ask myself one question….can anyone be satisfied buying only one console this generation?

I can see it right now. Wii fanboys will come to this editorial screaming how ludicrous I sound on a Nintendo website…but I have nothing against the Wii personally, what I say is true. People say the Wii has brought us everything we hoped and desired. The question is…are you willing to say that truthfully? Because, we heard the same stories already. The hardware lacks the horsepower of the other two systems, the online plan isn’t as people would have expected, lack of hard drive memory, and USB compatibility, blah, blah…People want to avoid another GCN moment, yet they come up with more excuses….or reasons why Nintendo can’t live up to their expectations. Which kinda saddens me because people wanted to sell back their systems because of this.

Now…basically the argument evolved along side the Xbox 360. Microsoft’s system has been out for some time now…and they’ve improved over their hectic launch. Xbox Live is still better than ever, and killer aps have been announced for the system, if not they already came out. So what does the Xbox 360 have that the Wii doesn’t? A 13 gig storage space, DVD compatibility, excellent online component, and basically better graphics. But another question is raised on this subject: What does the Wii have that the 360 doesn’t? Innovation, cheap price on games/system, excellent first-party titles and the ability to bring people of different ages to play.

So when you buy a system…you gain some and lose some. Which raises the original question again. Will you be fully satisfied sticking with one console this generation? I’ll be truthful…I needed the 360. I wanted the hardcore games that the Wii hasn’t obtained as of this moment. But I contemplate what would happen if I stuck with the 360…I’ll be bored. I never want to give up my Wii. If I had a choice, the ratio would be Wii over 360. But I have that eerie itch in me that screams: I still need the other.

I have reasons to be skeptical. There is so much behind my philosophy. Such as…Final Fantasy’s vice president, Tanaka, said FFXI will probably not come to the Wii because of the specs. He isn’t sure it can work! So where are you going to go and buy you FF goodness? Possibly on the PS3 or Xbox 360. If any of you wonder where I saw these arguments…go to thewiire.com….40% of the Wii threads chat about this topic, and it’s redundant now.

Am I disappointed with the Wii…..in some ways. But that disappointment is just a small increment of my gaming mind. I don’t need to decide between a 360 and Wii because I already have both. You people who read this must think….is it safe to invest in two systems, or will I buy just one and suffer the lack of features it doesn’t contain. And I must say one more thing, I’m not being biased. As much as you would think…I don’t throw cons at one system more than the other. I can enlist all the glory and praise I have for the Wii…but that would make me a fanboy.
