You’ve probably figured out that the Wii and DS are the top two items in Japanese gaming and Weekly Famitsu launched a poll to prove this point.
Like many websites the magazine organised a poll on Famitsu.com asking which system was played most over the holiday season. The Nintendo Wii took the throne easily with 244 votes, while the DS followed with 185 votes. Then came in the PS2 (148), Xbox 360 (146), and PSP (115) while the PS3 was nowhere to be seen in the top five.
Famitsu asked a similar question to it’s myriad of retail friends (same retailers that helped the publisher Enterbrain assemble its weekly charts): which product was hottest over the holiday season? This time the DS Lite took 1st place with 46 votes with the Wii hardware following at 28. DS software came after (as a whole 9), then came Dragon Quest Monsters Joker DS (8), and Yahuza II (5).
The Wii and DS continue to grow in popularity around the world, let alone just Japan. What we have failed to see is the PS3 making the high charts. Don’t go down too soon Sony!
