Review

This is the latest Space Shooter for the Virtual Console. This time your ship is the titular “Soldier Blade” and your mission is to fly your way through and trounce the Zeograd Invasion. I think this is a great vertical shooters, and has become my favorite quickly.

Soldier Blade’s visuals exceed those of Super Star Soldier, being even brighter and smoother, and are so well done, it may even make the game a bit harder because it’s hard to take in. Music is only average, though, a few stage’s music stand out particularly. I do however, like the sound effects, most notably the “Alert! Alert! Alert!” robot voice that warns you before a tough spot, and the shot effects don’t make too much noise, otherwise that would be all you heard of this game. Last, if you think that this is just like any other shooter on the market, it has a few features on it’s engine that make the came worth while, the GunBody and the Super Shells to name a few. Lastly, it is challenging, very much so, but definitely worth the 600 points it costs.
