Wii Acquires a Liverpool Developer!

More good news for the Wii keep coming as another developer has landed a home on the Nintendo console. Playbox Games, located in Liverpool, England, has confirmed to be a official developer of the system, and has met up with Capcom for a small team collaboration.

Playbox Games is a small group of six people who specialize in outsourcing and work for hire duties. They handled the works such as Football Manager Pub Quiz and parts of Buzz: The Music Quiz. The team visited Japan as part of a trade mission put together for Liverpool businesses. Playbox happened to run into Capcom at the TGS and now they have been officially acknowledged as developer partners for the Wii.

Playbox’s business manager had a few words to say:

Because Wii is such a new product, Nintendo is being fairly restrictive about the number of companies it’s allowing to work on game development so getting approval is fantastic for us.“After one meeting in Japan, Capcom travelled to Liverpool to see us and we’re both keen to see what we can create together.”

We hope to see some more friendly collaborations in the near future.
