The Wii-Mote was the highest selling videogame accessory in the US for November 2006. Around 270,000 Wii-Motes have been sold as well as 153,000 Nunchuck Attachments, beating out 360 Wireless controllers(251,000) and PS3 Sixaxis(98,000) .

 

However, it seems that the Wii console sales were at 476,000. So it does not look like every Wii owner decided to purchase an extra Wii-Mote as well.
