The wait for America is over when it comes to Wii. The console official got released today across the US, with special launch parties and midnight releases being held.
The main party was to be seen at Toys R Us Times Square, where President & COO of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime, was onhand to sell the first Wii to a lucky customer. Other festivities included live entertainment including acrobats and performances by DJ Ravidrums. More then 1000 people turned up for the midnight release, but people not wanting to stay up all night to get a new console will be reassured that they might be in with a chance to buy one in the morning, with Toys R Us stock of 5000 Wii consoles.
Other midnight launches were held at other stores across the US, with almost all of them selling out of their Wii console allocation. There also seems to be a shortage of Nunchuck accessories, with many site reporting that fan wanting to play Wii Sports Boxing will have to wait until Nunchucks come back in stock.
With the official launch of the Wii, you can expect to find many impressions of the console, games and services available all over the net. Unfortunatly we won’t get our Wii until 8th December, where I’ll be covering my local store’s midnight release, and bringing you all the information about the little white box that my fingers can type!
